Cookstown Juniors Win Regional Cup!
The Cookstown Junior Bantam Team won the regional Steven Simpson Bonspiel Cup this past Saturday, 26 January, after playing against their peers from neighbouring towns of Churchill, Coldwater, Barrie, Port Carling and Bradford.
The bonspiel was held at the Churchill Curling Club for the bantam level – ages 11-16. The Cookstown team played two roaring eight end games – one against Churchill and the other against Coldwater. Score against Churchill was 16:3 and then 10:4 against Coldwater.
The Steven Simpson bonspiel was a points spiel, which meant the team having the most points out of not only the teams Cookstown beat but against Barrie, Port Carling and Bradford in their respective competitions.

Fundraising Appeal
Because of the extra work required we are continually fundraising and looking at various opportunities. One opportunity we would like you to consider, as a friend of the Cookstown Curling Club, is a tax deductible donation to the Canadian Curling Association. Your donation will be redirected to the Cookstown Curling Club through this charitable fund and in turn you will be given a charitable tax receipt. Depending on the size of your donation, and if over $200, you could conceivably get 40% returned to you on your tax return. Check with your financial agent for further details. This way, you can help yourself and the Cookstown Curling Club – we all win!
Attached is a letter that we would like you to send in to the address provided on the letter. Please consider this opportunity.
If you are unable at this time to consider a charitable donation but know someone who would love to help us out, please kindly forward this appeal to that person or entity.
